The Boswell Sisters – Biography
Martha, Connie and Helvetia Boswell grew up in New Orleans and were raised on the sound of Dixieland. Together, the Boswell Sisters developed a unique style based on their intricate vocal interplay and close harmony singing. They initially toured the West Coast as a vaudeville act and soon became one of the most successful jazz groups of the Swing Era after they started recording.
During their 1930s heyday, The Boswell Sisters rivaled The Andrews Sisters in terms of popularity. But in terms of musicianship, the Boswells were unmatched. They remain one of the most influential vocal groups in pop and jazz history.
