Album: Oscar Peterson Plays Duke Ellington
Artist: Oscar Peterson
Year: 1953
Genre: Jazz
Grade: B+
A more talented pianist than Duke ever was, Oscar Peterson is a worthy interpreter of these 12 Ellington standards. His only accompaniment is Barney Kessel on electric guitar and Ray Brown on double bass, and together they deliver the lush, easy-listening treatment these songs deserve. Oscar Peterson Plays Duke Ellington, while not essential, is a fine collection.
