Fats Waller – Biography
Fats Waller was born in 1904 in New York City and became one of the central figures in Harlem’s 1920s and ‘30s jazz scene. Not only was Waller a tremendous pianist and jovial entertainer; he was also one of the most prolific songwriters in American history, having copyrighted over 400 songs throughout his career. His influential style blended virtuosic stride piano with Tin Pan Alley pop, and he easily became one of the biggest and most recognizable music stars of the era.
