Blind Willie McTell – Biography
Blind Willie McTell was born in 1898 and spent the majority of his career performing throughout the state of Georgia. His melodic, ragtime-influenced style stood in direct contrast to the rough Delta blues of his contemporaries. Then again, McTell’s music always stood out — smooth tenor vocals, 12-string fingerstyle guitar and stream-of-consciousness lyrics made for a singular brand of blues that was totally unique.
Although McTell recorded throughout the 1920s, ’30 and ‘40s for a variety of different labels, he never found much success. Nevertheless, his music remains timeless due to his wide-ranging influence. Keep reading below for Blind Willie McTell music reviews.
