Even though Sonny Side Up features several of jazz music’s biggest names, it’s only run-of-the-mill in terms of the end result. Consisting of just four lengthy compositions, the album is perfectly average by the lofty standards of Sonny Rollins, Dizzy Gillespie and — to a lesser extent — Sonny Stitt.
