Blossom Dearie sings exactly as you would expect a girl named Blossom Dearie to sound. She’s sweet, smart, squeaky clean and self-confident, like a teacher’s pet that has never gotten below an A-plus. Yet even though the mini-jazz arrangements are beautiful and Ms. Dearie’s delivery is beyond-perfect, she only garners an A-minus here. Over the course of an entire album, her charm wears off and the music becomes somewhat boring.
