Al Bowlly – Biography
Al Bowlly was born in 1898 in Mozambique and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. He recorded hundreds of songs in the early 1930s, highlighted by a fruitful partnership with British bandleader Ray Noble. In fact, Bowlly and Noble were far more popular in America than in Europe, which is why they toured the United States frequently.
